Today I am sharing a recipe for a brown bread loaf. The addition of a dollop of honey gives it a nice moist flavour and it's also a healthier option than adding sugar!! If you don't wish to add the honey just omit it from the recipe . Go here for lots of similar versions...
Ingredients...
250g wholemeal flour
200g white flour
1tsp bread soda
1tsp salt
1 egg
350ml buttermilk
1tsp honey
optional topping 1 tbsp of porridge oats
Directions...
In a bowl combine the flours with the bread soda and salt. Mix the egg and buttermilk together and add the honey if using. Pour into the bowl of flours and combine well..
When mixed ,pour into a well greased 2lb loaf tin and scatter top with the oats. Make a deep ridge down the centre and one across middle. Bake for 40 to 45 mins in 180c oven
It looks really good, I'd love to try! :-)
