Decor Inspiration: Piling on the Pillows...

via

It seems lately that the days of having an ordinary bed dressed with the minimum bedding
and bog standard two pillows are long gone:)  Apparently there is a certain art to layering the bedding and getting it just so!

Indeed on a recent trip with my eldest daughter to Dublin , she had a specific brief in mind of what she needed to include for her new bedding. Two large square pillows for the back, four ordinary in front and two decorative to finish.
We eventually tracked down the two big square ones in Brown Thomas and she paid almost the same price for two white covers to match! My mother who was with us on the day thought she had lost her marbles!!

I definitely blame Pinterest for that one as her bed is a replica of some of her favourite pins

Love the Cosy neutral theme of these beds...

Whilst they are gorgeous to look at I am quite happy sleeping on my two ordinary pillows  ... my aging neck wouldn't take any more height! Ha:)
Lovely daughter is quite comfortable in amongst her new bedding, so much so that some mornings I can hardly see her head for the pillows when I look in!

Anyone else have a bed full of gorgeous pillows or are you quite happy sleeping on the normal one or two?

Have a good day:)

  1. I refuse to have any more than 4 on the bed and only two are used. The other two are for propping for night time reading. I find the beds with pillows which take up half the bed quite amusing and all that plumping to be done! It would be such an effort even trying to get in to bed. But they still look nice.

  2. I only use one to sleep with but more if I want to sit up and read in bed. I love all those crochet pillows.

  3. I blame pinterest for my spending too!! My hubby hates when I put lots of pillows on our beds, he ends up throwing them on the floor!!

  6. Love the look but I only use four on my bed - like Sue, it's two for sleeping and an extra two to prop up when reading. My daughter (11) has a multitude of pillows and cushions on her bed. It takes her an age to make every morning, but at least she's happy ... and more importantly, I don't have to make it for her, lol!!

  7. I do have a couple of decorative cushions, but I use these when sitting on the bed so they do serve a purpose! I love my bed! All white company neutrals in white and grey ! X

  9. Hi Anne! Very nice pictures. :)
We have some pretty decorative pillows on our bed for during the day when the bed is all made. But at night we take the pretty ones off, and I take out just our ordinary pillows (with plain pillow cases) for us to sleep on. And I just keep the pillows we sleep on, tucked away until we use them at night. That's how we roll around here! :)
Hope your week is going well!

  12. Only two pillows here
    and sleep on one.
Couldn't be bothered sorting all of those out each night
    and rearranging every morning!

    Lovely photos.

  16. Thanks for sharing, it's so funny. I am in the process of re-arranging my bed and pillows is the first thing I want to change :) If I could, I would cover my bed with pillows but I'm sure my husband wouldn't love it as muhc.

  17. Anne...these are all so gorgeous; thank you for sharing them.
Its hard for me to pick the one I love best...they are all perfect.

I have a bed-ful of decorative pillows only. I take them off each night and put them on each morning. They are very pretty, but I can never get that perfectly placed look of the professionally made beds.

  19. I do love a well put together bed...lots of pillows looks so cozy but can be a pain when you are the only one who cares to make the beds in the morning! I love the second to last picture!!!! So cozy!

  20. I have the headboard in the last photo which I adore. I have so many pillows and cushions on my bed. However I take them all off except one because my neck hurts if I sleep on more than one.

  21. Loving the look but same, I can't be dealing with more than two pillows. I am loving that natural grey with the white so pretty.

  22. I love the look of throw pillows but they always just get tossed on the floor in our house. I do love all the neutral bedding in those photos. So relaxing!

  23. In the US, people have lots of thick pillows on their bed. I always wonder how it's possible to sleep this way. I stick to my guns: two pillows.

  24. I have a tufted neutral headboard and several pillows. I think a bed looks inviting when there are lots of pillows. They aren't all necessary.. and it does take longer to make the bed when you have to put all the pillows back. It's just a personal preference I guess. If you are a minimalist.. two is all ya need!

Some people rest better when they have the support of a more than one pillow ~

    Enjoy your Friday!
