Happy Friday....

It's weekend time again and I am also delighted to see the end of January! I had such a busy week anyhow it went by in a flash! My hubs was away a few days for work and everything seemed to go wrong. Starting with the dishwasher clapping out!
Now I couldn't be without that so I had to order a new one asap! It's installed and running but the absolute rage of having to fork out for it nearly drove me mad! I could think of far better things to buy I can tell you:)

I actully ate a load of crap also this week as you do when you are rushing about and no time to eat properly. I treated my lot by making  these little chocolate puffs yesterday. They were absolutely delicious and as usual didn't last long.
I sometimes end up disappointed when I buy shop eclairs as I find them a little bland and dry, so I made these similar delights using sheets of puff pastry and sandwiching the layers together with cream. I finished by pouring some melted dark chocolate on top.

This is actually a very simple way of making a lovely dessert when you are in a hurry or have visitors coming round at short notice. You could also add some lovely chopped fruit for an extra little touch.

I hope you all have a great weekend:)
Anne xx

  7. I understand your frustration with the dishwasher, couldn't imagine life without mine now! Seeing those chocolate puffs reminded me of happy memories as a child when my Mum would make her own eclairs - so much nicer than the shop bought ones :) Have a great weekend Anne!

  10. Anne, you have to tell how to make the cream in the middle, it looks so delish. Sorry about the dishwasher expenditure. I was going to suggest you contact the people you bought it from especially if under 6 years, but as you said, it;s hard to live without one, the whole process could take a couple of months. I only know this too well. Mine went bust after 2 yrs, but I fought for a replacement while 7 months pregnant with backache. I ended up getting half the cost back. Better than none for me.

    Have a good weekend.

    1. It was actually about 7 years old so I think we didn't do too badly! On the cream front I bought a tub of pre whipped dairy and layered in what I could between the sheets of pastry. Use as much or as little as you like:)

  13. Yum to the cream puffs! The last couple of times I've bought eclairs I found the chocolate was boring. You really have to be doing something wrong to make chocolate boring. I'm sure yours were delicious!

Too bad about the dishwasher. I can't imagine going back to hand-washing dishes - horrors!

  15. For a moment I thought you had made choux pastry but was relieved that these can be made with shop-bought puff pastry! They look delicious and quick to make - always a bonus. Have a good weekend.

  16. Oh, I feel your pain at having to fork out for a new dishwasher. I hate spending money on such things ... but at this stage, dishwashers are a necessary item in all our lives. Hope you have a lovely weekend after such a frazzled week!

    1. Hi Julye...i really did't follow any recipe for this. I rolled out two sheets of shop bpouight pastry. When cooked I cut them into rectangles, I layered them on top of each other and filled with cream. Top with melted chocolate to finish.
